W.M.U. News:
• Women’s Missionary Union
Women’s Missionary Union began in 1888 at the Southern Baptist Convention in
Richmond, Virginia. WMU members are ladies and girls who are concerned about
missions and telling people here at home and around the world about Jesus.
WMU members pray about missions and missionaries as they study about them,
give monetary gifts to send missionaries and provide their materials, go as
missionaries when God calls them, and encourage the church to do each of
these things as well.
WMU groups meet on the first Wednesday of the month together and separately
on the third Monday of the month. Individuals or small groups can also go
online to participate in missions. WMU is very flexible about times and
dates of meetings.
Some of the benefits of being a WMU member include: a support group to meet
with every month, more work accomplished through working together, and a
productive and current outlet for serving God here and abroad.
WMU is in need of more women to join their ranks. WMU needs women of all
ages and especially younger women to keep the ministry thriving with new
ideas and methods in today’s world.
Please give careful consideration to joining WMU.
